How Coach hire works with us
Coach hire is the large end of our fleet: midi-coaches that reach places a full-size body cannot turn into, luxury coaches for Canberra and the Hunter Valley, and touring coaches specified for the days when the vehicle is effectively the group's base. What separates coach work from a short charter is distance and time. Underfloor bays take a bag per passenger, so a touring group or a sporting squad is never choosing between people and gear. Long days are set against the driver's available hours under heavy vehicle fatigue law, and the rest breaks it requires go into the run sheet at quoting time, along with a changeover or a second driver where the itinerary needs one. Start with the headcount, then adjust for what the group is carrying. A suitcase each, or a set of sporting gear, moves a booking up a size even when the seats already fit — which is why the quote form asks about luggage as well as passengers.

What is the difference between coach hire and charter bus hire?
Charter describes how you book — the whole vehicle, for your group and your itinerary, in whatever size fits. Coach hire describes the vehicle: the larger end of the fleet, with underfloor luggage bays and the comfort a long day needs. A twelve-seat run to the airport is a charter but not a coach job; a full-size coach to the Southern Highlands is both. If you are not sure which you need, send the group size, the destination and the finish time and we will tell you which vehicle the trip actually calls for.
How long can a coach run in one day?
Not as long as the map suggests, because the limit is the driver rather than the vehicle. Driver working hours and rest breaks are governed by heavy vehicle fatigue-management law, so a long itinerary is planned around the breaks it requires and those breaks sit in the run sheet before you book. Where a day would run past a driver's available hours we plan a changeover or a second driver and price it into the quote up front. A request on the day that would exceed those hours is declined, which is the one thing about a coach booking that is never negotiable.
How much luggage fits under a coach?
Our full-size coaches carry luggage in bays underneath the floor, which on a normal load means a case per passenger rather than bags stacked in the aisle. That is the practical reason groups move up from a minibus for airport, touring and interstate work. Bulky or awkward items — skis, instruments, rowing gear, marquees, display stands — need to be declared when you enquire so we assign a vehicle with the bay space for them instead of discovering the problem at the kerb.
Can we take a coach interstate or overnight?
Yes. Multi-day and interstate itineraries are quoted per trip rather than by the hour, and the quote includes the driver's accommodation and the mandated rest breaks because both change what the trip costs and how long it takes. Canberra, the Hunter Valley, the Southern Highlands and the South Coast are regular runs for us. Send the full itinerary — every night, every early start — and we will tell you honestly whether it works as written or needs a day rearranged.
Do any of your coaches have a toilet on board?
Onboard restroom facilities are available on selected touring coaches rather than across the fleet, so ask for one when you enquire and we will confirm availability for your dates instead of promising it in general. Where a restroom vehicle is not available for your trip we plan comfort stops into the schedule, which most groups want on a long leg regardless.
